| The USBA Community Watch
Program is very similar to other watch programs in that we are the
eyes and ears of law enforcement in the community and all share the
same goal of stopping crime and nuisances in the areas covered. Other somewhat more aggressive tactics may also be used, including following and reporting on strange persons in the area, hiring of security guards, hiring of off duty Police Officers and Sherriff's Deputies. Our Watch Program differs in that we are part of a pro business, activist organization that wants to take the watch efforts at least one step further. That is, that we will of course call police when we see crimes committed. However, many times when some crimes are committed, police must actually see it to be able to make an arrest. At that point, we plan to "Save the day" by getting the police to help us to get the identify of the Perpetrator, and then obtaining a Warrant from the proper Magistrate or Judge. We will also very aggressively utilize technology to a level unheard of by most watch groups. This includes a community wide internet based instant chat session, thereby allowing the entire community to instantly know what is going on and where. Plus, watch patrol people will utilize cameras and camcorders to provide evidence of crime and to develop a database of know area problems that everyone can work on. |
